Motorcycle Spring Maintenance Guide
If your motorcycle has been stowed away in storage all winter long, it’s about time to pull it out to get ready for the upcoming spring season. However, disuse can be hard on a motorcycle, and you’ll need to give your model a little TLC before it’s ready to hit the road again. For tips on how to get your motorcycle ready for spring, check out our guide below.
Tires
Tires tend to deflate in cold weather, and it’s not uncommon to pull a model out of storage only to find it has a flat. Whether your tire is flat or simply a bit deflated you’ll want to pump it up to the correct air pressure as soon as possible. Afterward, be sure to thoroughly inspect your wheels and listen for the sound of leaking air to ensure you don’t have a damaged tire.
Fluids
If you didn’t give your motorcycle an oil change before placing it into winter storage, you’ll need to do it now. We also recommend inspecting your brake reservoirs to ensure the fluid is clear of condensation or debris, is light in color, and doesn’t look murky or dirty in any way. If you didn’t add a fuel stabilizer to your fuel tank before storing your motorcycle, be sure to drain and refill the tank before your first ride in the spring.
